Little has been written about jewellery made in ceramic. Poole Pottery in Dorset was in production from the Victorian 1873 until about 2006. However it has been taken over by Denby recently and revived. The pottery produced vases, trinket boxes, plates, animal, fish figures and ornaments, dishes, candlesticks and much more including jewellery.
Shown below is a ceramic dolphin brooch. I have seen another fish design from Poole as well. Both were unsigned. One source sites this little dolphin to be between the late 1960s to mid 1990s of age. There are many different poses of this dolphin design in pottery ornaments and figurines. Not surprising as Dorset is famous for its dolphins in its seas.
As we add more Poole pieces we will show case them here as with all our jewellery blogs. For any Poole jewellery to buy that we may have available.
